Welcome, Willkommen or even Karibu in Swahili. The next year will be full of new people, food, aromas and views while exploring Africa as a Learning Officer with Camara

Camara is social enterprise that uses "technology to deliver education more effectively to disadvantaged communities in Africa and Ireland". During the summer 2010 I already dedicated 4 weeks of my holidays to train teachers in Kenya, to enable them to use Information & Communication Technology (ICT) in a meaningful way with their students.

During my first class in Kenya I knew that I needed to come back. I was surprised about my students hunger for knowledge and I was impressed with their motivation to learn. Some of my students have travelled hundreds of kilometres to join a 5 days course as it was a rare opportunity for them learn. I strongly believe that everybody in the world has the right to education and I share Camara's vision of "a world where even the poorest have access to quality education". Therefore, I have decided to go back and help Camara to realise their vision.

In order to show people that have supported my trip in August 2010 through monetary donations or sympathy I have written a blog and posted pictures online. I was surprised how many people actually followed my blog. Thus, I decided to create a new site for this adventure including

  • a locations section with maps that show which parts of Africa I have been to and where I am in that moment,
  • A blog with impressions, stories and anything else that comes up my mind,
  • Photos of anything I consider interesting,
  • A contact me sections for anybody that wishes to leave me their thoughts,
  • and a little section about myself and my motivation.

I am sure this site will evolve over time so if you have something you would like to know or see just contact me! Thank you very much for taking an interest in my project and I hope you will enjoy this page.
